Care Instructions
Your totes should generally be hand-washed in cold water with mild detergent or machine-washed on a delicate cycle inside a mesh laundry bag. To maintain shape, lay the tote flat to air dry, or tumble dry on low heat to fluff, stopping while still damp. If your custom tote was made from a non-acrylic yarn, please refer to the care instructions that came with your tote.
Washing Instructions
- Method 1: Hand Wash (Safest): Submerge the tote in a tub of cold water with a gentle detergent (like wool wash or Castile soap). Gently squeeze the suds through the tote, avoiding twisting or stretching. Rinse until the water is clear.
- Method 2: Machine Wash: Use the “delicate” or “hand wash” cycle with cold water. To prevent snagging, place the tote inside a mesh laundry bag or pillowcase.
- Important Tips: Do not use hot water (causes shrinkage). Do not use bleach. Use color-catcher sheets for bright colors.
Drying Instructions
- Air Dry (Recommended): Lay the tote flat on a clean towel. Keep it out of direct sunlight to prevent fading.
- Tumble Dry: If the yarn allows, tumble dry on low heat. To avoid over-drying and potential damage, remove it while slightly damp and finish air drying.
- Removing Excess Water: For hand-washed items, roll the wet tote in a clean, dry towel and press—do not wring.
- Do Not Iron: Excess heat will damage the yarn.
Maintenance
- Spot Cleaning: Dab small stains with detergent, let sit for 15 minutes, then rinse.
